Description: Single Frame Cinematography in the digital world. Jamie will show his work and demonstrate new approaches to capturing stop motion and visual effects using DSLR’s and Dragon Stop Motion Software. This will include a demonstration of shooting stop motion 3D for projection. Jaime will also be showing examples of his work from the American Airlines and other commercials.
Jamie Caliri is an award winning director living outside of Los Angeles CA. After studying at Cal Arts, Jamie made his mark with a unique brand of multi-layered stop motion animation, combining live action, light painting and miniatures on 35mm. In the late 1990′s he moved into lIve action music videos, directing projects for eclectic bands such as Soul Coughing, The Eels and Morphine. More recently, Jamie’s title sequences for Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events and Showtime’s United States of Tara have revived a paper cut-out look. The United States of Tara sequence won the Emmy for Outstanding Main Title Design. Jamie also received Annie awards for both of his 60 second United Airlines spots; Dragon and Heart. After 21 years of directing professionally in commercials, music videos and title sequences, Jamie is now concentrating his efforts on feature projects.
Jamie serves as the Creative Director for Dragon Stop Motion software, used to shoot broadcast and feature animation around the world.
