Fleet Street Scandal » Fleet Street Scandal

FLEET STREET SCANDAL was created in 2006 by Kevin Dart and Chris Turnham. Both artists share a common desire to create high quality printed material and artthat would look great on the wall. Since opening, Fleet Street has shipped prints across the globe, published two hit books, Fleet Street Scandal: A Collection and Seductive Espionage: The World of Yuki 7, and produced the animated short, “A Kiss From Tokyo” which was an official selection at the 2010 Annecy Animation Festival.
Outside of Fleet Street Scandal, Kevin and Chris have both worked for years in the animation and videogames industries. Most recently Kevin has been working at Cartoon Network as a background painter on the new show “Sym-Bionic Titan.” And Chris worked at LAIKA Entertainment where he was a production artist on the stop-motion animated film “Coraline.” Both artists currently reside in Los Angeles.

Lee White Illustrator » Lee White Illustrator

Lee White is a children’s book illustrator and concept artist living in Portland Oregon. He has illustrated 11 children’s books and has a new title appearing Spring of 2012 published by Viking. Recently partnered with noted artist agent Paul Rodeen, Lee is writing as well as illustrating his next three book titles. His client list includes Simon & Schuster, Laika, Scholastic Publishing, Verizon, Disney, Viking, National Geographic, Apple, and many more.

Lee also enjoys teaching illustration and concept design and currently works as a faculty professor for the Art Institute of Portland. When he’s not working Lee enjoys going on long bike rides with his wife and son.


Nicolas Villarreal Independent Designer » Nicolas Villarreal Independent Designer

Nicolás P.Villarreal was born and raised in La Plata, Argentina. He studied at the Escuela of Animacion y Cinematografía de Avellaneda where he earned a degree in 2d Animation. While studying animation he was taken under the wing of Miguel Alzugaray, a well-known fine artist from Argentina. He continued studying animation and fine art painting until he entered the Master’s Program at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.  Nicolás graduated with honors in the Spring of 2002, and since then he has been working as a 2D animator, character designer, sculptor and Visual Development artist for Films and Video Games including The Walt Disney Studios. He also wrote and illustrated his own Children’s book called “The Aces”.

Currently, Nicolás works as a freelance designer and teaches for the Animation Department at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.  He he lives in San Francisco, California., where aside from drawing and painting he also enjoys playing soccer and spending time with his friends.

Raising the Bar Recruiting is a selection process that takes place with many feature film, television and game studios.  Be apart of the select group that gets chosen for “Raising the Bar Recruiting” to have a one on one interview at CTNX.  Portfolios are submitted to our online site and are previewed by recruiters. Applicants who are accepted will be contacted prior to the event as to when and where their one on one interview will take place.  Must have a 3-day pass to participate in Raising the Bar Recruiting.

Moderator Tenny Chonin Former Director of Artist and Professional Development at Walt Disney Animation Studios, Tenny Chonin combined her teaching and artistic experience to develop programs designed to enrich the creative lives of the Disney artists.

Tenny led the department that conceived and produced all training and enrichment activities for the feature animation division.
Her group provided cross-training, new software training, daily art classes, workshops, seminars, production-specific events,
mentoring and much more.

Tenny had the pleasure of working closely with Disney’s studio artists and trainees, apprentices and new hires.  No wonder she proclaims that she had “the best job at Disney Animation.”

Tenny is currently consulting on projects that further the education of animators in film and television.

Jason Deamer began his career at Pixar Animation Studios in 1998 as a Sketch Artist on Monsters, Inc.  He has worked as a Character Designer on a number of Pixar films including the Oscar®-winning Finding Nemo and Ratatouille, as well as the Short films One Man Band and Lifted.  Deamer is currently in development, working on a future Disney•Pixar release.

Inspired early in life by Spiderman, Star Wars and Tin Tin to pursue a career in drawing, Deamer leads a small team of artists at Pixar who work with the film’s director to design the characters.  Prior to joining Pixar, Deamer worked designing graphics and illustrations for Plan B skate boards.

Deamer grew up in Mill Valley, California and attended the University of California at Davis and the California College of Arts and Crafts in the Bay Area.  He currently lives in San Francisco and is currently working at Pixar Animation Studios.

Florian Satzinger was a student of the well-regarded Disney, MGM and Hanna-Barbera animator and animation director Ken Southworth (“Alice In Wonderland”, “Woody Woodpecker”, “Tom & Jerry”, “The Flintstones”, “Peanuts”, “The Smurfs”) who influenced him greatly. Presently, he is developing StarDucks© and Toby Skybuckle© with France and Japan based Ankama Media Group. Besides his design and production work, he teaches character design, analog animation and animation history in collaboration with Maryam Laura Moazedi at the University of Applied Sciences, Salzburg.

Panelist Bill Schwab Walt Disney Feature Animation

Bill started at the Walt Disney Animation Studios in 2005 as a character designer on Gnomeo and Juliet. After completing work on that film, he reprised his role as a character designer on the Disney’s Emmy Award winning holiday special Prep and Landing.

In 2009, Bill received a Best Character Design Annie Award for his outstanding work on Prep and Landing. He continued to do character design for the Prep and Landing short titled Operation Secret Santa and the follow-up holiday special, debuting holiday 2011, Prep and Landing: Naughty vs. Nice.

In between the Prep and Landing specials, Bill lent his character design talents to the wildly successful CG animated hit, Tangled. He worked on the Stabbington Brothers and the pub thugs. His creative vision and unique approach to design has been praised by many of Disney Animation’s filmmakers.

Bill has moved his way up to character design supervisor on Disney Animation’s 2012 release Wreck-It Ralph. As the character design supervisor, Bill is currently responsible for creating the look of the characters and developing the visual style of their world. He works hand in hand with the art director and the film director to bring the characters to life from concept through modeling, rigging and look development.

Bill resides in Studio City, CA with his wife and two kids.

Did the Gobelins animation school 1987-1989
Worked at Disney animation studio Paris from 1989 to 1995 as an animator.
Worked at Bibo films studio 1995 to 1998 as supervisor animator , storyboard artist and director.
Then moved to Dreamwork in 1998 as Supervisor animator, character design and storyboard artist.
I was character design for ” Surf’s Up” at Sony fin 2004 and worked on different projects like Cloudy and Hotel T.
Went back to Dreamworks in 2008 to work on Mega mind, Puss in boots, Neighbors from hell, and  Turbo.
I recently worked as Freelance for BluSky and ReelFX that I am currently at.
I was inspired by french comic artists like Franquin and also my classmate and Colleagues.

Join Heather Kenyon in a presentation on “How to Create a Pitch Bible”

Heather Kenyon is the Vice President of Project Development and Sales for Starz Animation, a Division of Starz Media. She is the former senior director of development, original series at Cartoon Network, where she focused on thedevelopment of animated comedy, comedy adventure, action adventure and live-action series for children 6-11 years old. Prior to joining Cartoon Network, she was editor-in-chief of Animation World Network <http://www.awn.com> , a leading Internet publisher of animation news, information and resources, and was responsible for managing the site’s editorial and writing efforts.  Kenyon began her career in animation at Hanna-Barbera Cartoons. As Manager of the Production Information department, she was responsible for providing information and materials from current productions to all TBS departments worldwide, as well as artistic staffing and festival involvement.
She graduated magna cum laude with a BFA from the Filmic Writing Program at the University of Southern California’s School of Cinema-Television.
