Matt Jones has worked in the animation industry for 14 years, initially in commercials in London & lately on feature animated productions. Matt&Ronald He’s currently a senior Story Artist on Aardman/Sony’s ‘Arthur Christmas’. While working on BiboFilms’ ‘A Monster In Paris’ in the South of France he managed to contact his drawing hero Ronald Searle & subsequently met the master.

Matt will be sharing rare material personally passed on by Ronald Searle and  he will be giving an insight into this legendary illustrator’s influence on film & animation.

Some of the people who could best address how much Ronald Searle influenced Disney  ( Tom Oreb, Milt Kahl, Ken Anderson, Marc Davis, Ward Kimball) are no longer around. He was a great influence on two of my favorite cartoonists Mort Drucker and Pat Oliphant. I think without question he is one of if not the most influential cartoonists of the 20th century ( and definitely one of the finest draftsmen of this century let alone British Art) and I admire his work greatly ( I bought a small Searle drawing I have framed. )” ~Animation Director John Musker

    Searle is the most Elegant Giant of the industry and a visual delight- I seem to remember even Holiday magazine using multiple images- The Arts and imagery are classic and wonderous.
