David Breaux Jr. – Senior Animator

Born in Marrero, La. A suburb of New Orleans, David Breaux always had a knack for drawing. In the early 80s, his parents made the fateful decision that would forever change his life. A brand new Commodore 64 computer for Christmas. He quickly gravitated to the few pieces of art software floating around at the time so he could make cool pictures with the thing! Fast forward through Atari ST days, his first taste of 3D CG was a little program known as Cyber Sculpt. On a senior graduation trip to Disney World, David asked a few questions at the animation studio and decided to study art and animation. He majored in Illustration at The Columbus College of Art and Design in Columbus Ohio, with a dream to become an traditional animator or creature effects / makeup artist, whichever came first. But in 1994, something happened that forever changed his career goal…. Jurassic Park. Here he saw a way to create the most realistic creatures ever, and be able to make them move from head to toe. David said he “”teared up when they first revealed the brachiosaur! It was like the best of both worlds; there was no end in sight of what I could do if I could just get my hands on this stuff.”"

After graduating from college in 1995, David worked on and off as a freelance illustrator and sculptor. In 1997, he returned to school for a course in Softimage and UNIX. After receiving his diploma, he landed his first good gig at a little animation studio in Minneapolis called Reelworks Animation. He was hired as a freelance production artist for a number of well-known animated commercials for Hershey’s chocolate. In 1998, he left his position in commercial animation to pursue work in the video game industry, where he specialized in character modeling, texturing and animation for PC and next generation consoles.

In 2001 He finally made his move to Los Angeles while still working in games but by 2003 made the jump to feature films. David’s been in the animation field now for more than 15 years and has worked on film and T.V. projects such as Tron Legacy, Real Steel, Terranova, Thor, Outlander, Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, Land of the Lost, Garfield the Movie 1&2, and Night at the Museum 1.
