Royce has been animating professionally in film and television since 1999. After graduating with a BFA from The Rhode Island School of Design, he started as a stop-motion animator on MTV’s Celebrity Deathmatch. When the show ended in 2001 he switched to computer animation and worked for Blue Sky Studios on a number of projects including lead animator roles on Ice Age 2 and Horton Hears a Who. In 2006 Royce left features and spent the next two years as a freelancer, supervising and animating on projects with commercial houses like Psyop, Hornet inc, and Curious Pictures. In 2008 Royce returned to features, accepting an animator position at Pixar Animation Studios where he currently works.
In addition to his animation career, Royce has taught and lectured on animation since 2005 for institutions such as The School of Visual Arts (NY), California College of the Arts, Anomalia of the Czech Republic, and Animation Mentor.
