Ted’s most recent contributions include storyboards and story development on WALL•E and Presto. Currently he is a storyboard supervisor working with on an upcoming project. In this capacity, he manages and supports a small team of story artists, brainstorms story ideas, visualizes the script in drawn camera shots with character acting, and other requests the director might have while putting together the story reel for the film.
Mathot started at Pixar Animation Studios in 1999 as a story artist on Monster’s Inc., and has since worked in a similar role on The Incredibles, Cars, Ratatouille, Presto and WALL•E. Prior to joining Pixar, he worked in TV animation and games as a designer, story artist, art director, and director. He was the recipient of an Annie Award in 2008 for his storyboard work on Ratatouille.
With both parents working as graphic artists, Mathot cites this artistic environment along with Warner Bros. cartoons and comic books as early inspiration for his current career path.
Mathot grew up in Holliston, Massachusetts, and earned his BFA in Illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) in Providence, Rhode Island. He currently lives in San Francisco and writes and draws self-published graphic novels and comics in his free time.
