Tell us a little about who you are. Where do you work? What job title do you do?
I am a freelancer.  I work from my own studio and I do a multitude of things, from animating, to designing, art direction , animation direction, children books, editorial illustrations, etc etc

How long have you been working in the animation industry?
I started working in the animation industry on January 2, 2001…so.. about 11 years now.
What are you currently working on?
A bunch of very VERY fun projects that I am not allowed to talk about. A few books as well, one which will be coming out with Penguin in September, and another one which is a new art book with some insights on how I work and think about my art, which will be published through Cafe Sale. It is called Sunny Side and should be available this summer.
Who do you feel has inspired you the most?

My brother Sean because of his aptitude to always finish what he started, no matter what happened. His strength of character and his incredible support when I was growing up were and still are my main source of inspiration.

Apples or oranges, tea or coffee: do you prefer creating for independent small studios, or large format big studios and what do you think is the difference?

Apples and oranges, Coffee rather than tea, but I love tea as well. I have worked and still work for studios that range from the one person owned shop, to the “big” studios..and pretty much everything in between. I also work with companies outside of the US quite a bit. They all are different in the way they function, and they all have some similarities as well. I don’t particularly have a preference though. Mostly, it comes down to the individuals I am working with.

What is your medium of choice for storytelling through animation and why? 2D, 3D, stop motion, illustration or all of the above.
Right now, I do mostly illustration and design work..so I like this right now. I use to do a lot of animation, and still do from time to time, and I like it when I do it.

When I watch a movie, I don’t really care whether it is CG or traditional as long as the story grabs me. I love movies in general, books, with or without images, stop motion, illustration, sculptures..
I also like people watching and thinking about the type of stories that go on between people. ..
That said… I am not an easy public. If an animated movie looks amazing, but has a story that doesn’t grab me, I’ll flip to something else.

Where would you like to see animation be in the next 5 years?
I don’t want to know.. I want to be surprised. It seems that the animation world is changing a lot, and it’s fun to guess, but it’s even funner to be astounded by something you just discover.
How did you first hear of The Creative Talent Network and what are your expectations and goals from being a member?
I was at comic con, and Tina Price came by my booth a few years ago with a flyer about it.
