Small Studio Success in a Big Studio Town

Title: Small Studio Successes in a Big Studio Town
Presented by The Creative Talent Network
Length 45min
Join the founders of Titmouse Inc. and listen to how they went from creating t-shirts to a thriving studio with over 100 employees.  Titmouse is the animation studio behind shows such as: Metalocalypse, GI Joe: Resolute, Freaknik, and is producing the new season of Superjail!
Titmouse is the name of a small Northeastern bird. Not unlike this bird, we started as a small Northeastern company. But not the way you might think… By the the year 2000 – Chris P had worked in animation as a director and show creator for 6 years or so. He was just about to move out to LA with his chick, Shannon, when he had the idea of starting up an online t-shirt company. And that’s exactly what he did. Titmouse, Inc. was formed to sell the kind of bad ass t-shirts Chris P had been designing on the side for years. It started out great! The designs were great. The t-shirts were great. The vibe was great – but one thing kept happening… Clients wouldn’t stop hiring Chris P to do animation. The freelance animation gigs kept getting bigger. Shannon quit her job to run the business. The networks and studios wanted to hire a company to do these projects, not just a dude freelancing. So Titmouse, Inc starting doing less clothing and more cartoons. We hired more and more employees, expanded into more and more offices in our West Hollywood location and eventually bought our own building in Hollywood to house the ever growing crew. We’re now over 100 people strong and rock multiple television series, movies, titles, shorts and commercials – all in house. We still even make an occasional t-shirt.

Chris Prynoski – Owner & Founder / Director / Producer

Don’t let Chris’ grumblings, mumblings and short, troll-like appearance fool you. He is cunning, articulate, deceptively powerful and quick. He is like a badger in the animation business.
Chris got his start at MTV on such shows as “Beavis and Butt-Head”, “The Head”, and “Daria” as well as directing the hallucination sequence in the feature film “Beavis and Butt-Head Do America”. He went on to create and executive produce Emmy nominated “MTV Downtown.” After moving to LA, Chris founded his animation studio – Titmouse, Inc. and has directed and designed various award winning commercials, videos, TV spots and television shows.
Chris has recently finished directing “The Amazing Screw-On Head,” starring Paul Giamatti and David Hyde Pierce. He is yet another producer and director on Adult Swim’s hit series “Metalocalypse” going into its third season this year.
Shannon Prynoski – Owner / General Manager
Born in the Bronx. Grew up unsupervised on the streets of NYC. Father: Bill Barrett – a sculptor. Mother: Judy- An English teacher. As a result of this Shannon will not sculpt or speak proper English.
She attended the School of Visual Arts in NYC, studied film, and met Chris Pyrnoski. She actually took a class in meeting Chris Pyrnoski.
Shannon has worked freelance as a color stylist and as also worked at a stock photography company called Outline Press, where she retouched celebrity photos… Creepy. She also was a production manager on Captain Crunch Commercials… Awesome.
She moved to Los Angeles in 2000 and started Titmouse with Chris.
She is an accomplished painter and is most proud of her huge collection of female action figures.

Antonio Canobbio was born in Paris, France. He began a career in animation, working as a layout artist for Rooster productions as well as other Parisian animation studios.

Five years later, MTV brought him to New York. Then Cartoon Network led him to Los Angeles. For the past four years he has been working as both a concept artist as well as an art director. In 2007 he became an officer of Titmouse – A Vice President, no less! Now he gets to be an executive and still do his old job of art directing. That’s what they call a promotion in the animation biz.

Art is not his only forte. He is an avid gearhead, currently enjoying his ride on his Yamaha FZ1. He loves to smoke cigarettes. And did we mention that he’s French? He is.
