Sue Blanchard grew up in North Carolina but left small town life for an opportunity to work in production management at Walt Disney Feature Animation. Surrounded by the many talented artists there, Sue became inspired to create her own images and enrolled in Art Center College of Design’s illustration program where she graduated with honors in 2004.
Having spent her childhood amongst old barn buildings, country stores and frayed quilts, she developed a real love for the odd, worn out, and forgotten which now lends a certain edge or wistfulness to her work.
Sue freelances as an illustrator and has worked with companies such as American Greetings and her work has appeared most recently in Cricket Magazine, Sterling Publishing’s Kids’ Whodunits book series as well as other magazines and newspapers across the country. Illustration honors include the upcoming 3×3 Children’s Illustration Annual as well as American Illustration, Society of Illustrators West, and Applied Arts Illustration. Sue continues to fill her sketchbooks with her quirky line drawings and is currently working on a series of paintings celebrating her love of folk art. More of her work can be seen at www.soobee.com, as well as new and in-progress work on her blog at www.soobeeblog.blogspot.com.
After attending as a visitor in the past, Sue is looking forward to exhibiting for the first time at the 2012 CTN Animation Expo and sharing her work with everyone. Please stop by her table and say hello!
